Kevin Abram Jr. - Campus Aide

Kevin Abram Jr. holds a B.S. in Biblical Studies from the College of Biblical Studies of Houston. He’s currently a student at Dallas Theological Seminary obtaining his Th.M. with a focus in biblical exposition and hermeneutics. Kevin has four years of experience with curriculum development and education; he has also worked with The Bible Project creating content for a new series set to launch this fall of 2019. Kevin enjoys reading, listening to different genres of music, and swimming.

Carley Alspaw - Kindergarten Teacher

Carley Alspaw holds a B.S. in English Rhetoric from Texas A&M University. She has taught at Coppell Classical Academy and Lake Highlands Elementary, totaling seven years of teaching experience. Carley is married and has (almost) one-year-old twins, a boy and a girl. She enjoys free time with her family in the backyard, neighborhood walks and friends over for dinner. 

Grace Aubert - Logic School Math and Science Teacher

Grace Aubert holds a B.S. in Mathematics and a minor in Physics from LeTourneau University. She loves spending time with her family outdoors, gardening, and using math to build projects around her home. Grace has experience teaching math from 4th grade through 12th grade as well as teaching Biology, Earth Science, and Science Research. Mrs. Aubert’s desire is to teach math and science in a way that constantly points students to an amazing God! 

Jessie Browning - P. E. Teacher

Jessie Browning holds a B.S. in Secondary Mathematics Education from the University of South Florida and is currently pursuing her M.A. in Christian Education from Dallas Theological Seminary. Throughout the past 7 years, she has served as a competitive cheerleading coach and a swimming teacher. She is also a part of the Sports and Fitness Ministry of a local church. She enjoys spending her time pouring into her community, getting outside, or having coffee with a friend.

Christie Craddock - PreKindergarten Teacher

Christie Craddock holds a B.S. in Psychology from Texas A&M University, and an M.S. in Communication Disorders from the University of Texas at Dallas. Prior to embarking on a journey of classically educating her own children, Christie served as a Speech/Language Pathologist, delivering therapy to children in both public and private schools. She adores Pre-K students and has over 8 years of experience working with them. Christie is passionate about Christ-centered, classical education, and is grateful to the Lord for giving her the opportunity to teach at Classical. She has 4 children, 3 of whom attend Classical. She enjoys rainy days, hot cups of tea, excellent literature, lifelong friendships, and anything she gets to do with her family.

Erin Deatherage - Curriculum Coordinator

Erin Deatherage holds a B.S. in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Texas A&M University. She has taught in Richardson ISD, private school and preschool, and has homeschooled her own children, giving her 14 years of teaching experience. Erin taught kindergarten during Classical’s inaugural year and now serves as the Curriculum Coordinator. Erin also has served in various roles in her church and is passionate about children's ministry, where she serves weekly. She has three children, two of whom are attending Classical. In her free time she enjoys working through the stack of books she is wanting to read (historical fiction and biographies are her favorite), trying new recipes, and attending her kids' sporting events and performances.

Chesley Garcia - 1st Grade Teacher

Chesley Garcia holds a B.A. in History from Texas A&M University. Chesley is originally from the DFW area; she’s been married for 12 years and has four fun and energetic boys. After college she worked as a 2nd grade teacher for 4 years before she decided to stay home full time. 

Sander Gonzalez - Logic School Humanities and Latin Teacher

Sander Gonzalez holds a B.A. and M.A. in Classics from Stanford University. He previously worked as Classical’s Campus Coordinator before transitioning to a teaching role. Although originally from the Atlanta area, Sander directed a church college ministry in Palo Alto, CA before moving to Dallas to pursue a Th.M. at Dallas Theological Seminary. Sander is married to his high school sweetheart, Esther, and they have twin baby boys, Valor and Alexander.

Nathan Fan - 2nd Grade and Eloquium Teacher

Nathan Fan holds a B.A. in Cinema/Media Arts with an Art minor from Biola University. At Biola, he was a part of the Torrey Honors Institute, which is where he came in contact with classical education. He is currently in his final year of a ThM program at Dallas Theological Seminary with an emphasis in arts and theology. In addition to teaching, he enjoys painting, drawing, literature, visiting museums, exploring nature, culinary arts, and caring for animals.

Samantha Harvey - Campus Aide

Samantha Harvey holds a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M Commerce. She taught first grade and kindergarten in Plano ISD before staying home to raise her son. Samantha has also worked as a children’s ministry director and is passionate about children knowing Jesus. In her free time, she loves to spend time with her son and husband, read, garden, and travel.

Alicia Heuer - Choir Teacher

Alicia Heuer holds an M.A. in Theological Studies from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Mrs. Heuer loves to explore the intersection of theology and the arts and has enjoyed serving in various roles in these areas over the years. Previously, she has taught Choral Music, instructed drum and bugle corps ensembles, and performed as a cast member in the show Odyssey, which toured Japan in 2008. She has also served as Women’s Ministry Director for an arts-based organization called Box 7, taught Women’s Bible Study, and written and edited Bible study curriculum at RightNow Ministries. She and her husband, Rob, are overjoyed to welcome their first baby, a little girl, in November 2019. 

Eric Jimenez - 3rd Grade and Eloquium Teacher

Eric Jimenez holds a B.A. in Art Education from the University of Akron. He spent six years teaching English in South Korea, where he met his wife, Kayla. He is currently pursuing a Th.M. at Dallas Theological Seminary and enjoys traveling, reading, hiking, and coffee. 

Katie Lockette - Kindergarten and Eloquium Teacher

Katie Lockette holds a B.S. in Advertising and Public Relations from Abilene Christian University. After graduating in 2014, she felt a strong call on her life to begin a journey towards teaching. She attended a classical school growing up and longed for the culture and community she had there. She has been teaching for four years and has a growing passion for education. She lives in Bishop Arts with her husband, Jordan, and their dog, Captain. They enjoy going on walks, reading, and playing chess.

Brian & Jes Lonergan - Cross Country Coaches

For over 20 years, Brian has been providing strength, speed, skill and spiritual development to athletes of all ages, in all sports. Knowing that athletes require more than just attention to their physical build, Brian uses his platform as Sports & Fitness Minister at Northwest Bible Church and as owner of Caliber Athlete to show and share the gospel and ultimately ignite the potential of athletes beyond the field of play. Jes is a full time mama, wife, educator and cheerleader at heart.  Together Jes & Brian are honored to raise four daughters; they love the sport of triathlon and will sneak away for a date night any chance they can get.   

Michelle Matthews - Logic School Humanities Teacher

Michelle Matthews holds a BBA from Baylor University, a Master of Liberal Arts with a writing concentration from SMU, and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Liberal Studies degree from SMU. She has ten years experience teaching literature and composition both at the community college level and at the high school level, where she taught AP Literature and AP Language Comp. She currently tutors ACT and SAT skills as well as AP English. For several years she held summer reading reviews in her home, allowing her to do what she loves—instilling in young people an appreciation for books. She and her husband, Truitt, are members of All Saints Dallas and have three children, a son-in-law, and two grandchildren. She enjoys reading, running, and hiking in the mountains with Truitt. 

Shannon McGraw - Art Director

Shannon McGraw holds a B.S. in Education from Ohio University, an A.A. in Interior Design from the Atlanta School of Design, and an MAT in Visual Communications from Webster University. Shannon has worn many hats, including teaching English in Australia and owning and operating her own hand-painted furniture and interior design businesses.  She returned to her first love, teaching art, about 15 years ago at a large private school in Dallas. Early retirement has afforded her the opportunity to serve Classical, and she is very excited to help develop a robust visual arts program for both students and parents.

Tory Parsley - Campus Coordinator

Tory Parsley holds a B.A. in Psychology from Biola University. Tory moved to Dallas in 2015 to pursue a master’s degree at Dallas Theological Seminary, where she met her now husband, Zane. Tory managed fundraising and operations for a small nonprofit for four years before coming onboard at Classical. In her spare time, she and Zane enjoy exploring the outdoors, reading good novels, and trying to find the next best restaurant in DFW; they are also expecting their first baby this winter! 

Majd Qassis - PreKindergarten Teacher

Majd Qassis holds a B.A. in Early Childhood Education from the University of Jordan, an M.A in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary, and is currently enrolled in the ThM program at Dallas Theological Seminary. Originally from Jordan, Majd previously served as a missionary to Arab women and youth group leader at Serenity Baptist Church in Arizona. She recently married her husband Jacob, and together they look forward to seeing God’s plan for them. In her spare time, Majd likes to hike, bike, read and learn new languages. 

Ryan Tompkins - Head of School

Ryan graduated from undergrad as a teacher of high school history. He taught in the public sector before being introduced to classical education, from which he did not look back. Ryan attended Westminster Theological Seminary for an M. Div., and he spent twenty years in pastoral ministry. During that time he earned a D. Min. at Baylor.  Ryan has been married to Jennifer for 21 years, and he has three children: Molly, Charlotte, and Lewis.

Lisa Treviño - 1st Grade Teacher

Lisa Treviño holds a B.S. in Physical Education and Biology from Texas Tech University and an M.S. in Exercise Physiology from the University of Wisconsin. She has held teaching positions in high school, middle school, university biology and elementary school PE. Lisa relocated to the Dallas area 6 years ago from Albuquerque, New Mexico. She has four grown children and one granddaughter. 

Katie West - Dance Teacher

Katie West started her ballet training at the age of four. She studied ballet, tap, jazz, and musical theater at Dallas Ballet Center for twelve years under the direction of Judy and Brent Klopfenstein. She continued her dance training at Colin College with Tiffanee Arnold. She also took many courses in biblical studies at The Criswell College in Dallas. She has been teaching dance at Dallas Ballet Center for seventeen years, and she has choreographed several musicals in the Dallas area. She loves being a mom to her four children and is thankful to partner with Classical to educate them!

Jennifer Vermeulen - Logic School Humanities and Latin Teacher

Jennifer Vermeulen holds a B.A. in Philosophy (emph. Ethics & Public Policy) from University of California at Santa Barbara, an M.A. in Biblical Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary, and a Post-Graduate Certificate in International Relations from Texas A&M University. Jennifer has 17 years of teaching experience. She and her husband, Roger, own Providence Music Academy where they manage a faculty of ten teachers and serve hundreds of students in the Dallas area. When she isn't teaching or homeschooling, Jennifer is a professional speech writer for politicians, business executives and subject-matter experts from around the world. She has four children: Jacob (14), Ellie (13), Johnathan (10) and Joseph (8). She is an avid tennis player and has a weakness for powdered donuts.

Traci Virdin - 3rd Grade and Eloquium Teacher

Traci Virdin holds a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University. She previously taught in Plano ISD for six years and is currently pursuing a Masters in Professional Counseling from Amberton University. In her free time, she loves drinking coffee and chatting with the people she loves, doing anything outside (especially in the mountains), watching sunrises, going to concerts, and reading every book she can get her hands on. Ms. Virdin is so excited for an incredible year at Classical!

Christian Young - 4th Grade and Eloquium Teacher, Technology Coordinator

Christian Young holds a B.B.A. from The University of Texas at Austin and is pursuing a Masters in Classical Christian Studies from New Saint Andrews College. He attends Eastside Community Church with his wife, Morgan, and their daughter and enjoys reading books, playing music, cooking new recipes, and riding bikes around White Rock Lake.

We will continue to hire select positions for this and next school year as we continue to grow and have needs.
